Our Story

At Eswatini Coffee, we believe that every bean tells a story—of resilience, community, and sustainable growth.

Founded in 2018 by local entrepreneurs Patrick Du Pont and Eddie Mkhatshwa, Eswatini Coffee was born from a simple question: “Why isn’t coffee grown here?” When a visiting aviation expert, Johan Hein, discovered that coffee production in Eswatini was virtually non-existent, he introduced the pair to a South African coffee farmer, Robbie Neal. That meeting sparked a journey that would transform Eswatini’s agricultural landscape.

Starting with just 2,000 organic Arabica plants on three hectares in Lwandle, Manzini, we learned, experimented, and persevered. By 2020, we celebrated our first harvest — a modest half-ton — and just two years later, production had grown to three tons. Today, we cultivate 4.3 hectares of coffee at our base and have expanded to approximately seven growing locations across the country.

As Eswatini’s first commercial coffee producer and largest grower, our mission goes beyond delivering exceptional coffee. We are building the foundations of a sustainable coffee industry that can stand proudly on the global stage, while creating opportunities for local farmers, especially women and youth.
Our commitment is simple: grow world-class coffee, nurture the land, and ensure the communities behind every bean thrive. Each cup tells a story of innovation, resilience, and the rich potential of Eswatini.

Our journey begins with the hands of dedicated farmers who nurture every bean. We partner with smallholder farmers across Eswatini, providing training, resources, and support to help them grow high-quality, sustainable coffee. For us and many of our farmers, coffee is more than a crop—it is a path to economic empowerment and a brighter future.
